12 Days Best of Colombia Motorcycle Tour
Colombia’s Ultimate Coffee Region motorcycle tour is perfect for riders looking for an expedition through the adventurous Andean mountain range. This route takes you through staggering peaks, rugged ridgelines, and diverse elevations. We will ride southeast from Medellín to Guatape Reservoir and La Hacienda Napoles, Pablo Escobar's former private residence which is now open to the public to tour. From Napoles we take the scenic back route through the Andes, arriving in the colonial town of Villa de Leyva, a Colombian national monument cradled by the mountains.
Our journey then takes us into the city for a visit to Colombia’s capital, Bogotá. We will get to take a free day in Bogotá to explore the many sights the city has to offer. You may visit any of Bogotá’s world class museums for your enjoyment, take in a coffee at the Plaza de Bolivar, or simply take a stroll through the town and check out the 300 year old colonial architecture. We then depart the city for Honda and Armenia, Colombia’s premier coffee region where we will take another free day to experience the diverse ecosystem. Our ride then brings us back full circle to our home base of Medellín.

Day 1 - Arrive in Medellín
Greetings! Welcome to Medellin! We'll pick you up at the airport and bring you to your hotel in the upscale. El Poblado district of Medellin. El Poblado has chic cafes, fashion boutiques, and high-end restaurants amid tall apartment blocks and hotels. Clubs and bars fill the Parque Lleras area, which buzzes at night. Go out to dinner and have fun but remember that we have a big day tomorrow!
Day 2 - Free day Medellín
The first day will consist of a rider meetup. Riders will be given a tour briefing as well as receive their motorcycles for the trip. After that the day is yours! Take in the sights of Medellín by visiting the Medellín Museum of Modern Art, the Botanical Garden of Medellín, or go for a lift on the gondolas at Arví Park. Make sure to get a good night’s sleep before we hit the open road.
Day 3 - Medellín - Guatape - Nápoles
Our first day of riding will take us down to the impressive Guatape Reservoir and El Peñol. Catch a bird’s eye view of the flowing reservoir from the top of El Peñol. El Peñol is a ten-million ton rock featuring a 649-step masonry staircase to the top! Savor in one of Colombia’s most spectacular panoramic views.
Day 4 - Nápoles - Barichara
Today’s ride starts off relatively flat and ventures into mountainous twists, arriving in the Spanish colonial town of Barichara. Nestled in the mountains, this lovely town is true to Colombian culture. Mid century colonial architecture and cobblestone streets line this town like a Spanish movie. Wind down in the calm atmosphere and enjoy the sunny temps in Colombia’s budding plateau. Visit the
Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción or take a stroll through Parque Para Las Artes to view the art and water installations by local sculptors.
Day 5 - Barichara - Bogotá
Start the day off easy with smooth riding through the Magdalena Valley. The second half brings us through slightly challenging terrain and dirt roads as we make our way through Chicamocha Canyon to arrive in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. A city bustling with life, Bogotá is lined with towering skyscrapers in the midst of century old plazas and cathedrals.
Day 6 - Free day day Bogotá
Spend the day relaxing and taking in all the sights Bogotá has to offer. Take in some history at the Museo del Oro (Museum of Gold) or spend the whole day walking La Candelaria, one of Bogotá’s historic centers. At La Candelaria you will find authentic Colombian art and handicrafts, lively culture, and premium dining experiences. Bogotá is host to a multitude of museums, shops, and restaurants, you’ll find all the traditional attractions that make Colombia a budding hotspot.
Day 7 - Bogotá - Honda
Today we hit the road, driving through the pleasant landscapes of Sabana de Bogotá with a short stop in Armero. We finish up the day with a ride to the colonial town of Honda. Honda is known as the ‘City of Bridges,’ with over forty bridges constructed over the rivers of the city. Honda features that small town charm, having previously been an active port town with the surging Magdalena River being its largest water source. Take a visit to the historic center for some town history, Honda was previously an active river port town.
Day 8 - Honda - Armenia
On our eighth day we venture through Colombia’s coffee region. Colombia is considered one of the world’s best coffee producers. Our ride will take us through the mountains and into rolling green foothills with a visit to the strikingly beautiful Cocora Valley. Cocora Valley offers a lush ecosystem, lined with wax palm trees that shoot up to 60 meters high. We end our ride for the day in Armenia, a coffee lovers dream.
Day 9 - Free day Armenia
Unwind after a day of riding in coffee lovers paradise. You may embark on coffee tours, horseback riding, bird watching, an outdoor enthusiast's heaven. If you’re more into the museum scene you can pay a visit to Armenia’s Museum of Gold, a free museum dedicated to the history of the use of gold by the indigenous and the conquest of gold in Colombia.
Day 10 - Armenia - Jardín
We start the day off with a ride to the sky high Catholic monument of Cristo de Belalcazar. We then continue on to the pueblo of Jardín, a gorgeous and authentic colonial town. Jardín is known for its colorful houses, vibrant floral displays, and delicious milk candies. You may take a walk through the main plaza of El Libertador Park which features rose gardens, water fountains, and the neo-Gothic Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Day 11 - Jardín - Medellín
Today is the final ride back to Medellín which ends our journey. We will hop on our bikes down the mountains to follow the Cauca River. Today’s ride has us hugging the streaming river before we stop for lunch in the colonial town of Santa Fe de Antioquia. From there we finish up our journey with a ride back to our home base in Medellín.
Day 12 - Departure
This marks the final day of our epic motorcycle journey across Colombia. Riders will now part ways as we head back home. For those riders that couldn’t get enough of Colombia, let us know and we can arrange extra days to stay.
