Reviews
I have ridden for 7 years and Jeff and his staff are great to work with. They are knowledgeable about the country and terrain, communicative, and helped us feel confident about our 6 day trip. The motorcycles and gear were quality and well taken care of. This was some of the best riding of my life and I expect to rent from Colombia Moto Adventures again at the earliest opportunity.”

6-Day Classic Coffee Region Motorcycle Tour From Medellin - Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Medellín → San Jeronimo → La Pintada →Aguadas → Salamina
5.5 Hours / 260 km
Leave Medellín and immediately drop into the warm Aburrá Valley before carving along the dramatic curves of the Cauca River Valley. This is classic Colombia motorcycle riding—smooth twisty pavement, big views, and constant elevation change.
As you climb back into the mountains, the landscape transitions into Colombia’s famous Coffee Region—rolling green hills, working fincas, and quiet rural roads. Stop in Aguadas, known for its traditional sombrero culture, for a quick tinto in the plaza.
Continue to Salamina, one of the most beautiful colonial towns in Colombia, with colorful balconies and a historic main square anchored by its iconic French fountain.
Overnight: Salamina
Day 2: Salamina → Manizales → Santa Rosa de Cabal
3 hours / 115 km
Ride deep into the UNESCO-listed Coffee Cultural Landscape, one of the highlights of any Colombia motorcycle tour. This is real coffee country—where daily life revolves around coffee farms, mountain roads, and small-town culture.
Near Manizales, stop at Fogón del Palo, a rustic finca restaurant serving traditional Colombian food. Walk through the on-site coffee farm or, on weekends, see panela being made at a working trapiche.
Continue to Santa Rosa de Cabal, famous for its natural hot springs set beneath jungle waterfalls—one of the best places to relax on any Coffee Region motorcycle trip.
Overnight: Santa Rosa de Cabal
Day 3: Santa Rosa → Salento → Cocora Valley → Salento
2 hours 15 min / 72 km
Ride into the heart of Colombia's Coffee Axis, following scenic backroads into Salento, one of the most iconic towns in Colombia. Park the bike and take a moment to soak in the colorful wooden balconies, artisan shops, and the buzz of one of the country's most beloved plazas.
From Salento, continue into the legendary Cocora Valley — one of the most dramatic landscapes in South America. The road narrows as wax palms appear on the ridgelines, growing taller as you climb deeper into the valley. These aren't just tall trees — at up to 60 metres, they're the tallest palm trees in the world and Colombia's national tree.
Walk the trail among the palms, with mist rolling through the valley and hummingbirds darting between the fronds. It's the kind of place that stops you mid-sentence. Bring a jacket — the valley sits high and the air is cool.
Back in Salento for the evening, the town shifts into a different gear. The plaza fills with locals and travelers, the smell of coffee and wood smoke drifts from the cafés, and the restaurants come alive. Grab a coffee at one of the traditional tiendas or settle in for a proper dinner — making Salento one of the best overnight stops on any guided motorcycle tour in Colombia.
Overnight: Salento
Day 4: Salento → Filandia → Cartago → Apía
5 hours / 175 km
Leave Salento and ride through coffee farms toward Filandia, one of the most photogenic towns in the Coffee Region.
Descend into the warmer Valle del Cauca near Cartago, then climb back into the mountains on quiet, lesser-traveled backroads—perfect for adventure riding in Colombia.
Stop for lunch at Helena Adentro, widely considered one of the best restaurants in the Coffee Region, known for its creative Colombian fusion dishes and shareable plates.
Finish the day in Apía, a hidden gem where tourism hasn’t taken over. No crowds, no souvenir shops—just authentic Paisa culture, working coffee farms, and a relaxed mountain-town atmosphere.
Overnight: Apía
Day 5: Apía → Riosucio → Jardín
5 hours / 132 km
Today shifts into true adventure motorcycle touring through Colombia's backcountry. Ride through Riosucio and into rugged terrain — dirt roads, narrow mountain trails, and remote sections far from the typical tourist route.
On the way to Jardín, stop at a family-owned hummingbird reserve hidden in the cloud forest, where you can hand-feed wild hummingbirds — one of the most unique experiences in the Andes.
Arrive in Jardín, officially one of Colombia's Most Beautiful Towns, known for its colorful buildings, lively plaza, and authentic atmosphere.
Dinner at Mambrú — a popular spot with a great vibe, known for burgers, tacos, ribs, pizzas, and cocktails.
Overnight: Jardín
Day 6: Jardín → Jericó → Medellín
5 hours / 153 km
Ride north to Jericó, a historic mountain town known for its artisan culture and incredible views over the Cauca River Valley.
From here, descend through a series of tight curves and sweeping viewpoints—some of the best riding roads in Colombia.
The final stretch follows the Cauca River back toward Medellín, completing one of the most complete coffee-country loops in Colombia — six days, six towns, and some of the finest riding roads in South America.
