🗺️ Trip Itinerary
🕣 1. Hotel Pickup & Departure from Medellín
Your day starts with a private taxi pickup at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Medellín. You’ll be brought directly to our office where your bike, gear, and guide will be waiting.
At 9:00 AM, we’ll begin the ride, cruising out of the city and into the peaceful hills north of Medellín. The morning traffic quickly fades as you enter the open landscapes of the Cauca River Valley.
🌄 2. Into the Cauca Valley
As you descend into the Cauca river valley, the scenery becomes greener and more expansive. This area is filled with small coffee farms, sugarcane fields, and grazing livestock.
-
Ride through traditional villages and coffee farms
-
See locals working on horseback or moving goods by mule
-
Transition from paved roads to dirt and gravel trails as the terrain becomes more remote
📈 3. Climb to the “Top of the World”
This is the heart of the ride—the climb from 500 meters to over 2,800 meters in a single push. Riders join this section of the tour for a true off-road Andes ride, where the road disappears and the adventure begins..
As the road begins to ascend, the pavement disappears and you enter the cloud forest. Fog drifts through the trees, and the air turns cool and damp. The environment becomes lush and otherworldly.
-
Pass under a dense canopy filled with epiphytes—ferns, orchids, and bromeliads that hang from branches and thrive on moisture from the air
-
Cross small mountain streams and natural water runoffs
-
Navigate gravel switchbacks and exposed ridgelines with panoramic views
-
Reach a narrow mountain pass at 2,800 meters, with breathtaking views of the entire Cauca River Valley
-
Stop for photos at one of the most scenic, untouched lookout points in the region
This section is pure off-road—challenging enough to feel adventurous, but not technical. The road is unpaved and used by 4x4 cars and trucks although it is very remote.
🍛 4. Lunch in a Highland Village
After descending slightly from the summit, we’ll stop for lunch in a remote mountain village that few travelers ever see.
-
Enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch—fresh, filling, and home-cooked
-
Try local specialties such as grilled meats, rice, beans, fried plantains, and fresh juice
-
Sip a cup of strong, locally grown coffee
-
Take a short walk through the plaza and chat with locals if you’d like
The meal is not included in the tour price but is very affordable (around $8–12 USD) and well worth it for the experience.
🌅 5. Return Ride to the Valley
With your energy restored, we begin the return journey, retracing the mountain trail and backcountry roads.
-
Descend through the cloud forest again, seeing the landscape in a new light
-
The late afternoon sun creates dramatic shadows across the hills
-
We may take scenic stops or slight detours based on the group's pace and preferences
-
Expect quiet roads, sweeping views, and the feeling of being far off the tourist trail
🏙️ 6. Arrival in Medellín
You’ll arrive back at our Medellín base around 5:00 PM. After handing off your gear and saying goodbye to your guide, your day ends with a private taxi ride back to your hotel, included as part of the tour.
