Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions
Rider-Friendly Summary

Adventure travel involves real-world variables. Our goal is always to be fair, clear, and communicative — while setting realistic expectations from the start. No fine print, no hidden gotchas — just straightforward rules so you know exactly what’s included, what’s expected, and how we’ve got your back on the road.

  • Minimum age 21

  • 1+ year recent riding experience on similar motorcycles

  • Passport or government photo ID required

  • Helmet and safety gear must be worn at all times

  • Riders must follow Colombian traffic laws and are responsible for all fines or violations

  • Colombia Moto Adventures may refuse or terminate a rental if a rider is unsafe or does not meet these requirements (no refund).

  • Remaining balance due before the ride begins

  • Payments accepted via bank transfer or credit card only

  • There is a 4% service fee for payments made by credit card.

  • Cash not accepted

Cancellation Policy

  • Tour deposits: Non-refundable this is due to hotels and motorcycles being reserved in advance

  • Rental deposits: No refund if canceled before the trip

  • No refunds for early return, unused days, or trip interruption

What We're Responsible For

Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for indirect or consequential damages, including:

  • Missed hotels or flights

  • Taxi or transportation costs

  • Lost income or travel interruptions

  • Maximum liability is limited to the total amount paid for the motorcycle rental only.

Example:

  • If a motorcycle develops a mechanical issue and a rider misses a hotel reservation or flight, Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for those costs.

Fuel & Basic Maintenance

Motorcycles must be returned with a full tank and in the same condition received.

For longer trips riders should periodically check:

  • Chain lubrication

  • Tire pressure

  • Basic bolt inspection

  • Basic maintenance during the trip is the rider’s responsibility.

Adventure Riding Risks

Adventure riding involves real-world risks including:

  • Gravel, mud, water, rough dirt roads

  • Weather changes

  • Remote areas

  • Altitude, fatigue, & mechanical issues

  • By riding, participants accept these risks.

Medical Insurance

  • Motorcycles include SOAT insurance, the basic medical coverage required by Colombian law. This covers emergency medical costs only. We strongly recommend purchasing your own travel or medical insurance before your trip.

Damage Charges (Examples)

Riders are responsible for all damages. Typical damage charges include:

  • Mirror — $50

  • Brake / Clutch Lever — $25

  • Indicators — $100

  • Scratched Plastics — $50

  • Broken Plastic — $200

  • Helmet — $300

  • Crash Bars — $300

  • Chassis Damage — $1,000

  • Additional damage will be quoted within 7 business days.

Traffic Violations

  • Riders are responsible for all violations including speeding, red lights, parking, or restricted zones.

  • Typical fines range $150–$300 USD.

Events Beyond Our Control

  • Trips may be affected by weather, landslides, road closures, protests, or other unforeseen events.

  • These situations may require route changes or delays and do not qualify for refunds or compensation.

  • Example:

  • If a landslide blocks a mountain road and the route must change or a riding day is shortened, riders are responsible for any additional costs such as hotels or transportation.

Personal Property

  • Motorcycle luggage boxes may not lock securely.

  • Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items.

Basic Mechanical Awareness

  • Self-guided riders should have basic motorcycle travel skills, including reading maps, judging road conditions, and handling minor roadside issues like flat tires or small adjustments.

  • We provide reliable motorcycles, basic tools, and emergency support, but self-guided travel requires independence and problem-solving on the road.

Rider Responsibility & Skill Level

  • Riders must operate the motorcycle within their own skill level at all times. Guided tours are not training programs.

  • Riders must be comfortable riding on pavement, gravel, mud and changing road conditions.

  • If a rider creates a safety risk for themselves or the group, Colombia Moto Adventures may adjust the route, separate riders, or end the rider’s participation without refund.

  • Guides do not control individual riding decisions and are not responsible for rider mistakes, loss of control, or crashes.

  • Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs voids all coverage.

Agreement

  • By booking or taking possession of the motorcycle, the renter confirms they have read and accepted these terms.

Bottom Line

  • We provide a well-maintained motorcycle, clear terms, and support where realistically possible so you can experience a true motorcycle adventure in Colombia.
