Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions
Rider-Friendly Summary
Adventure travel involves real-world variables. Our goal is always to be fair, clear, and communicative — while setting realistic expectations from the start. No fine print, no hidden gotchas — just straightforward rules so you know exactly what’s included, what’s expected, and how we’ve got your back on the road.
Rider Requirements

Valid motorcycle license from home country

Minimum age 21

1+ year recent riding experience on similar motorcycles

Passport or government photo ID required

Helmet and safety gear must be worn at all times

Riders must follow Colombian traffic laws and are responsible for all fines or violations

Colombia Moto Adventures may refuse or terminate a rental if a rider is unsafe or does not meet these requirements (no refund).
Booking & Payment

50% deposit required to reserve a motorcycle

Remaining balance due before the ride begins

Payments accepted via bank transfer or credit card only
-
There is a 4% service fee for payments made by credit card.

Cash not accepted
Cancellation Policy

Tour deposits: Non-refundable this is due to hotels and motorcycles being reserved in advance

Rental deposits: 50% refundable if canceled before the trip

No refunds for early return, unused days, or trip interruption
Liability Limits (No Consequential Damages)
Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for indirect or consequential damages, including:

Missed hotels or flights

Taxi or transportation costs
-
Lost income or travel interruptions
-
Maximum liability is limited to the total amount paid for the motorcycle rental only.
Example:

If a motorcycle develops a mechanical issue and a rider misses a hotel reservation or flight, Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for those costs.
Fuel & Basic Maintenance
Motorcycles must be returned with a full tank and in the same condition received.
For longer trips riders should periodically check:

Chain lubrication

Tire pressure
-
Basic bolt inspection
-
Basic maintenance during the trip is the rider’s responsibility.
Adventure Riding Risks
Adventure riding involves real-world risks including:

Gravel, mud, water, rough dirt roads

Weather changes
-
Remote areas
-
Altitude, fatigue, & mechanical issues
-
By riding, participants accept these risks.
Medical Insurance

Motorcycles include SOAT medical insurance required by Colombian law, which provides limited emergency medical coverage only.
Optional Motorcycle Damage Insurance
Optional motorcycle damage insurance is available for an additional fee.

Covers physical damage to the motorcycle

$0 deductible
-
It does not cover towing or recovery fees, fines, third-party damage, legal costs, or personal injury.

Without this insurance, the renter is fully responsible for all damage, loss, or theft.
Damage Charges (Examples)
If optional damage insurance is declined, typical charges include:

Additional damage will be quoted within 7 business days.
Traffic Violations

Riders are responsible for all violations including speeding, red lights, parking, or restricted zones.

Typical fines range $150–$300 USD.
Events Beyond Our Control

Trips may be affected by weather, landslides, road closures, protests, or other unforeseen events.

These situations may require route changes or delays and do not qualify for refunds or compensation.

Example:

If a landslide blocks a mountain road and the route must change or a riding day is shortened, riders are responsible for any additional costs such as hotels or transportation.
Personal Property

Motorcycle luggage boxes may not lock securely.
-
Colombia Moto Adventures is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items.
Basic Mechanical Awareness

Self-guided riders should have basic motorcycle travel skills, including reading maps, judging road conditions, and handling minor roadside issues like flat tires or small adjustments.

We provide reliable motorcycles, basic tools, and emergency support, but self-guided travel requires independence and problem-solving on the road.
Rider Responsibility & Skill Level

Riders must operate the motorcycle within their own skill level at all times. Guided tours are not training programs.

Riders must be comfortable riding on pavement, gravel, mud and changing road conditions.

If a rider creates a safety risk for themselves or the group, Colombia Moto Adventures may adjust the route, separate riders, or end the rider’s participation without refund.

Guides do not control individual riding decisions and are not responsible for rider mistakes, loss of control, or crashes.
-
Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs voids all coverage.
Agreement

By booking or taking possession of the motorcycle, the renter confirms they have read and accepted these terms.
